Nazarene by Bella-Anima Nazarene by Bella-Anima
If you're disturbed by this, good. You should be. This is the symbol that is painted upon the houses of Christians in Iraq and Syria, it is the letter "N" in Arabic, which stands for "Nazarene." The people of the Islamic State are killing, kidnapping and torturing Christians in their countries, and what is the media saying about it? Next to nothing. I am sickened by this, and I'm sick of people ignoring the real problems, so I painted this in protest and as a sign of solidarity.

I'm hoping to raise awareness of this, so that we can all do something about it. You can write to your local and national politicians, you can sign petitions, you can give money and support to organisations working there to help those who are being attacked, and you can tell others about it and encourage them to do the same. Just please, do something, let's stop being silent. Stand with them.

I shall add this to my favourites, even though I am atheistic.  ISIS or the Islamic State or the Kaliffa, or whatever they are calling themselves at the moment should be punished with AC-130 Spectres until they are all graveyard dead.

You are more than welcome. I am atheistic, not an Atheist. I have no trouble with others having a religion or practicing it save Islam and the Thuggee sect of Hinduism. Both of those religions encourage murder as an act of piety.

You are atheistic but not atheist? Intriguing, may I ask what that implies and why you are this? If it's too nosey, just let me know, I'm just curious... :)

An Atheist is a person who runs around insisting that you quit worshiping whatever it is you worship. I do no such thing. I leave other people free to worship as the please unmolested by my beliefs.

Aha, interesting that you notice that, many people who claim atheistic belief don't actually recognise that mentality. You are the first person I've ever heard actually acknowledge it.

Personally I am an atheist. But what sickens me the most in this world is discriminations, no matter who it is against and no matter how the label is formed. I hadn't heard about this until I saw it from you which is horrible. But I am used to it sadly, not the atrocities, I will never get used to that. But the media covering up for it, THAT I am used to. Unless there's some sort of behind the scenes interest on something they just ignore it. Like the women that get raped and stoned for it, like the children that die of aids every day, like the human trafficking from third world countries into Europe and the US. Even in my own country I see immigrants get beaten every day in the middle of the street, cops just a few meters away smoking their cigarettes without a care and media talking about singers, models and football players. This world is rotten.

Oh? May I ask why, or is that too nosey?
Yeah, it's so prevalent, that no one cares. The media is playing up Robin Williams' death, (which is very sad) but it's everywhere, and no one is reporting about the people who are still being murdered by the IS. It's like they don't want people to know.

Why I'm an atheist or why I hate discrimination? XD. The atheist thing I believe comes from science and generally the way I think. I have nothing against religion or religious people, on the contrary I respect all beliefs as long as there is no damage and sadly there are bad aspects in all religions. But personally I just don't share any of them. I respect them all though. And seeing people getting slaughtered like that... My problem with discrimination of any kind is that we're all humans, we all have the same rights, no matter our colour, nationality, religion , sexual orientation, gender or anything else that might separate us. I agree. Here is the same. People die on the streets everyday but all the news go about is celebrity weddings or divorces it's actually disgusting :/ when things like this are happening and no one is doing nothing to stop it. How did you come across this information?

Interesting. You should look up Answers in Genesis, it's very interesting, it's a science organisation that actually keeps you up to date with a lot of discoveries they make that line up with the Bible. :D

As to the information, I follow a lot of organisations that keep me up to date on persecution of Christians around the world. I like to pray for them, it happens everyday. opendoorusa.org is one sight, and here is the main article of info I found:
cnsnews.com/mrctv-blog/barbara…

The Yazidis are also suffering abominable treatment at the hands of jihadists. My heart goes out to all those persecuted for their beliefs.

I actually have a very clear opinion on the matter but I am not bother nor do I bother people who believe, I'm all for freedom. I know belief and faith are not a bad thing but as I said sadly religion is often manipulated in the worst way.

Personally, I have had problems with Christians because of my views but in every religion there are fanatics unfortunately. Most of my friends are Christian, they understand me and I understand them. Being different doesn't mean we can't coexist peacefully. And I absolutely agree, beliefs and faith are a personal matter and a right. No one should be judged over it as long as they're not hurting other people.

I think in secular culture, I would be considered a fanatic. Not that I won't associate with non-Christians, but in that I share my beliefs with others, and I am honest in what I believe.

If someone speaks to me about it, I will say yes, I believe in Hell, and I believe people will go to it, which is why I tell people about my faith. Because if I believed that, and didn't tell others, I would be a despicable human, uncaring and unloving in the worst way.

I am sorry you have had bad experiences with Christians, we are told to tell everyone the Gospel, but always with love and not in a "holier than thou" attitude. That's completely hypocritical, because we believe we are all as sinful as everyone else, just we trust in Jesus, it's not our own merit we rely on.

Well, that's what we are supposed to believe. Some don't seem to understand what they claim to trust in.

Personally you don't strike me as a fanatic. Wanting to talk about it to other people is not the same as actually pushing them to embrace it, that's what I mean. Or even worse accusing and threatening them if they don't. Sadly I've met such people and being raised in a Christian family I know this is not what Cristianity is about. So I do respect any faith and I don't discriminate because it really has to do with the person one is. If a supposed god tells me to kill someone because he's not of the same religion and I do it, it's not the religion's fault per se, I am obviously a rotten person, becuase killing someone can simply not be justified. Anyway, as I said my family are Christians and most of my friends so I have no problem. I have met bad christians but I have met bad muslims too so as I said I don't evern discriminate against people. I think it's the right attitude, for me at least.

You haven't seen me get into an evolution/creation debate. :P

True, that's completely out of line. There is a way to talk to people about it, without being a dope about it.

My word, I had not known about this situation at all. Seeing and reading this, being a Christian myself, gave me a real serious wake up call on needing to take a stand for Christians around the world. I do what I can here in my country, but people are being killed in Iraq and Syria - and it just pains me to know this!

I'm going to make an art expressing my feelings about this situation. Because art can bring a powerful message that words cannot express. ~ Dana

I'm glad it made you aware! We can stand together and pray for them. It sickens me as well that it's happening, but we can tell others and use art to alert our watchers and friends.

I look forward to seeing what you create to show the world what's happening! :)
